Built for your wellbeing

No overloaded social media platform. StepLooper focuses on exactly what matters: getting you moving outdoors.

Loop routes for your step goal

Enter the steps you still need. The app plans a loop as a guide; the actual distance and steps may differ.

On-device route calculation

Route calculation and guidance take place exclusively on your smartphone. Your GPS tracks stay on the device; they only reach your account if you explicitly consent to synchronisation. They are never evaluated for advertising.

Versatile path filters

Prefer nature paths, asphalt or paths with information on lighting and steps, for example. These attributes come from map data and may be missing or differ on site; check the path yourself.

Battery-friendly & offline-capable

Vector maps from OpenStreetMap support planning. Map areas that have already been downloaded may be available offline; new areas, account features and some map queries require internet.

Seamless cloud sync

If you like, sign in for free with Google or with an e-mail address and confirmation code. If you agree to synchronisation, your walks, runs, rides and saved routes automatically end up in your account and on your other devices.

Direct support & feedback

Do you have a question, a route wish, or have you found a bug? Send us feedback directly from the app and get answers from our support team straight back to your smartphone.

  2. There, tap Install. You will then receive updates automatically through Google Play.

Privacy by design

We believe that fitness and movement data belongs to you alone. That is why StepLooper is built on the principle of data minimisation (Art. 25 GDPR).

GPS tracks only in your account with sync

For planning, your smartphone downloads path networks for an area; in doing so, our server processes the requested map areas and your IP address. We store recorded GPS tracks in your account only with your explicit sync consent. The optional Garmin navigation briefly routes navigation and fitness data through our server.

Servers in Germany

Interfaces and vector maps run on our server in a German data centre. To protect against attacks and overload, Cloudflare forwards the connections (more in the privacy policy). No data is passed on to data brokers.

Delete account and sync data

You can delete an optional account and its synchronised activities and routes in the app or request deletion by e-mail. Encrypted backups may still contain deleted data until their retention period expires.

Everything you need to know

Is StepLooper really free?
Yes! In the current beta version, all features, path filters and cloud synchronisation are available to you completely unrestricted, free of charge and without ads. To cover hosting and server costs sustainably in the future, discreet advertising or optional subscriptions may be added in later major versions.
Do I need a user account?
No. StepLooper can be used completely anonymously and without registration from the very first launch. A free account (Google or e-mail) is purely optional if you want to synchronise your activities and routes between several devices with your consent.
Does navigation also work offline?
Yes. Route guidance and positioning run locally via your smartphone's GPS. Map tiles that have been downloaded once are cached on the device, so you are reliably guided even in areas without reception.
Where does the map data come from?
StepLooper uses map data from the free community project OpenStreetMap (OSM), prepared in the modern PMTiles vector format. As a result, even small paths, lighting attributes and park paths are captured in detail.
Can my steps be read automatically?
Yes. On Android, StepLooper supports Health Connect to automatically read the steps you have already walked today and work out the remaining distance exactly. Alternatively, you can adjust your step count manually at any time with a tap.
