Scope
These terms govern the use of the StepLooper mobile application. The provider is Jakob Freund (support@steplooper.fit).
StepLooper is currently provided free of charge and without advertising. No paid subscriptions or in-app purchases are offered. Free trial unlocks do not trigger an automatic payment obligation or a paid renewal either.
Scope of Service and Right of Use
StepLooper creates suggestions for walks, runs and rides and offers navigation, training plans, optional smartwatch connectivity and account synchronisation. Information on distances, times, elevation gain, steps, pace and heart rate consists of measured or estimated values and may deviate. Depending on the function, using the app requires location access, sensors, an internet connection or compatible devices; offline maps only contain areas that were downloaded beforehand.
The underlying path and road data is based on the open OpenStreetMap dataset and may in individual cases be incomplete, temporarily closed or outdated.
Safe Use and Personal Responsibility
Before every activity, check the route, weather, visibility, traffic and your physical fitness. While walking, running or cycling, keep your attention on your surroundings and operate the app only when it is safe to do so.
Check on site whether a path is actually accessible, safe and suitable for you. Information on lighting, surface, steps and accessibility is based on map data that may be incomplete and is not a guarantee. Signs, closures and traffic rules take precedence. When walking or running, stop before crossing a road and check the traffic yourself; a navigation prompt is not clearance to cross. When cycling, check right of way and road conditions yourself and stop to operate the app. Training plans and heart rate values are not a substitute for medical advice and are not a medical device. If you have a pre-existing condition, take medication, are pregnant or have not exercised for a long time, talk to a doctor before you start. If you feel unwell, end the activity and seek professional advice; in case of chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness or a racing heart, stop immediately and call for help in an emergency (112). Prompts on the phone and watch may fail or arrive with a delay.
Warranty and Liability
We strive for functions that are available and accurate. However, maps, sensor measurements, route suggestions, training plans, offline data and the connection to watches may contain errors or be temporarily unavailable. Your statutory rights in case of defects remain unaffected.
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health. In the case of slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual obligation, we are liable for the damage typically foreseeable at the time the contract was concluded. Otherwise, liability is governed by the statutory provisions; mandatory statutory claims, in particular under data protection law and product liability law, remain unaffected. This provision does not limit liability where a limitation is not permitted by law.
Final Provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. If, as a consumer, you have your habitual residence in another country, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of that country remain available to you. Should individual provisions of these terms of use be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.
